My “official” Introduction
Hi love, I am Ophelia Atte, and I was born and raised in Ivory Coast. I love numbers, and that’s why I have a master’s degree in Accounting. I am also great at organizing and singing, so I have been a Choir Leader and held other organizational positions in my life. Apart from this, I am also a French speaker and a loving wife who has a passion for event design and planning.
I began to use my talents in the events industry in 2009. My first company was called Ophelia Wedding Affairs. There I handled wedding stationery, menus, seating charts, and more. I also managed décor for weddings and other events by family and friends. Last but not least, I did some wedding planning. My sister was my first “client.” Cool right? Maybe I’ll share how that went with you some other time.
After this initial foray into the wedding industry, I faced a bit of a dilemma. I am the kind of person who likes to be sure about what I am doing, so I began to question myself. Was this a hobby or a real passion for me? I understand how vital event planning is, so I knew that I had to be ready to give my all if I wanted to go into it. I guess I was also a little afraid of what that much commitment could mean.
I eventually realized that it was a real passion for me. I could do this for free and even skip my sleep to make sure that my clients were happy. This is what I love, this is where I wanted to be, and I was going to make it work. I have never been one not to follow my passions, so I began to research and take some crucial steps.
In 2020, I decided to get specific. You see, I was doing event planning, décor, and design, but my previous company name was not reflecting that. I decided to change my company name to specify all the events and services that I was offering. Thus, “Ophelia Event Affairs- Planning and Design” was born. What do you think?
I also braved the countless challenges along the way (COVID-19 Included) to become a Certified Event Designer! I am so excited and happy because this means I can now design and decorate any event. Achieving all of this in 2020 has confirmed to me that I really can do whatever I set my mind to.
So, if you’re out there, a little afraid to follow your dreams, this is for you. I’d like you to know that you can do it just like I have. Confront your fears, share your passions, and put your ideas out there. You’ll never know how great you can be until you try. All you have to do is take that first step and believe that you can do it. I believe that you can.
